The Pinotage is South Africa’s exclusive grape . It is the result of a succesful crossing between Hermitage (Cinsault) and Pinot Noir. The first commercial cultivation of the Pinotage grape dates back to the first period right after WO II. It was an immediate succes. From 1970 on, this succes was partially lost but this grape was rediscovered at the end of the eighties. It won several competitions against the traditional grapes of Bordeaux. This Cape Mandelay combines the intense aromas of Cinsault with the velvety smoothness of the Pinot Noir. |
